Dr. Sara Checa Esteban

Julius Wolff Institute, Berlin

Sara Checa is Junior Professor at Charité University Medicine, Berlin. She achieved her degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Malaga, Spain, in 2003. In 2007, she completed her PhD at the University of Southampton in the Bioengineering Science Research Group. She has conducted post-doctoral research at the Trinity Center for Bioengineering in Ireland, at the Julius Wolff Institute in Germany and at Stanford University in the USA.
Currently, her research group is focused on understanding the interactions between mechanical signals and biological responses during skeletal tissue regeneration and adaptation. She exploits the power of computer methods to describe processes at the organ, tissue and cellular level and to investigate interactions within and between the different scales. She has more than 60 contributions to national and international congresses, five book chapters, and has published more than 25 articles in international journals.

At "Future Medicine" Sara Checa will give a presentation on "Using Computer Models to Promote Skeletal Regeneration".
