Dr. Elke Dworatzek
Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin
Elke Dworatzek is a Junior Group Leader at the Institute of Gender in Medicine. She received her diploma in Biotechnology at the University of Applied Science in Berlin and her PhD at the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin. During her internship at the Heart Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, she became interested in cardiovascular disease. Her current research aims to understand the differences in cardiac pathophysiology between men and women in more detail. In particular, her focus lies on the identification and characterization of the molecular mechanisms underlying the 17β-Estradiol/estrogen receptor-mediated sex-specific cardiac gene regulation, to be therapeutically targeted in both sexes.
At “Future Medicine” she will talk about "Development of Cardiac Fibrosis Differs Between Men and Women".
