Dr. Kathleen Börner

Kathleen Börner graduated in Biotechnology (Dipl.-Ing. FH) in Jena and in Molecular Bioengineering (M.Sc.) in Dresden. During her studies, she worked in various companies as well as academic labs in Germany and the UK. Since 2007, she has been working at the “Department of Infectious Diseases” at Heidelberg University Hospital. This includes her PhD graduation in the group of Prof. Hans-Georg Kräusslich, with a thesis entitled “Identification of new Cellular Interaction Partners of HIV-1 Using RNAi”. She is currently working for the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF) and pursuing the overall goal of long-term remission and cure of HIV, by targeting the latently integrated HIV genome with viral vectors and nucleases.
