Alan Akbik

Alan Akbik is the lead researcher for natural language processing (NLP) at Zalando SE. Before joining Zalando, he was a researcher at IBM Research Almaden in San Jose, California, and before this a research associate at the Technische Universität Berlin. His current work centers on novel transfer and representation learning approaches for NLP, and on applying these methods to production use cases. A particular focus of his work is the ongoing development of "Flair", an open-source framework for state-of-the-art NLP that has found widespread adoption across hundreds of projects in academia and industry.

At the Digital Future Science Match, he will talk about "The Flair Framework for State-of-the-Art Natural Language Processing".
